bu-tylicious:

At this point we all know that Deku and Baku are consistently written to contrast with each other, but what kills me dead is the difference in the ways they’ve been wounded while trying to become full-fledged heroes.

Deku tends to sustain physical wounds when he faces important challenges.

Meanwhile Bakugou’s challenges tend to wound him psychologically/ emotionally.

I like to think that this is linked to what they are each deficient in as fledgeling heroes.

Deku has always possessed the desire to help people, but has lacked the physical means to properly do so for most of his life.

He falls short of the heroic ideal in regard to the state of his biology and physical body. His conflict is more external. As a result, his body is riddled with scars.

In contrast Bakugou has always possessed the physical prowess fitting for a hero, but all his life he’s lacked the desire to rescue those in need.

He falls short of the heroic ideal in regard to his state of mind. His struggle is more internal. He’s sustained practically no permanent injuries to his body so far, but his ego has taken a hell of a beating and that’s left him with quite a few sore spots in the inside.

Long story short the way Hori links these two in so many different ways makes me die…
